They don't stay clean on their own. They lick their own assholes on their own, and they eat whatever crap you feed them, and those smells end up all over their body. Then want to rub up all on your face and legs and wherever they can. I don't think you ever owned a cat if you don't know this.
Hence why they are washing the cat, to get all of that damn smell and poo out.
