Oh my god, my cat does this all the fucking time. I'll let her sleep in my room with me, and when I wake up in the morning, the rug from the hallway is suddenly piled up just inside my door and she's sitting there with a guilty look on her face.

squinting is a sign of submission or happiness. if a cat was being aggressive, it would stare at something wide-eyed to keep a good focus on it's perceived enemy. squinting would make it see less.
