It strongly depends if the bat was rounded at the end or flat/concave. When i was in school, me and my friends were trying to do a similar trick with a tennis racket during our PE, since some pro-guy told us that's possible if precisely done. Took us a few days before we succeed but keep in mind that tennis racket has a lot smaller surface on its handle, also baseball bat is made of one piece of wood so it bounces more predictably
