Blizzard is there because you have to associate all your games with BNET now. AKA no more selling WoW accounts and so forth; it's a weak form of DRM.

the second comment is confusing creators with publishers, publishers often publish without paying royalties to the creators, more creators are realizing they are better off selling directly to consumers.
