When a car comes unexpectedly at you with a 60 MPH speed, majority of humans don't think to run towards it. That's like saying when someone's about to stick a fork in your eye you move towards it and then move parallel to avoid. Nobody does that. You panic, and first thing comes to mind is to run away. It's very easy to sit on your ass and critique someone's panic decisions when you haven't been in an encounter such as that.
tl:dr; Learn to look at both sides of the coin.
