I think its pretty obvious that the goalies teammate cracked him upside the head with his hockey stick for letting the other team score.

after getting scored on keith ballard tries to break his stick on the post out of frustration but misses and hits his own goalie in the head. they end up taking him off the ice on a stretcher lol.
