Methane or some other gas, ignited by (homemade?) fireworks... as soon as the air/gas mixture was perfect it went BOOM ^^

The ignition sends the manhole up, and then the rest of the gas burns down the length of the hole, followed by the second, much larger shockwave and explosion.
