I'm no Pats fan, but he did the right thing. And yeah, QB's take a hell of a lot of punishment. When rugby players come to the NFL, they become punters.

He was avoiding the blocker to get to the guy with the ball. Getting steamrolled by the blocker wouldn't have accomplished anything.
