somebody enlighten me, how in holy hell would this stop child abuse?

I guess the thinking is you plant these dogs in homes where there has been a past history of child abuse (keeping the dog there by court order) and the dog will royally fuck up anyone who tries to beat their kid, or at least distract the person long enough for the kid to escape, or something.

No idea how well that'd work in practice though. It's not too hard to outsmart a dog, but then someone who's got into legal trouble for beating their kids can't be too smart in the first place.
