But tell me, where does one go to get licensed as an official dog-name connoisseur? Is there a class you have to take to suck all the fun out of you, or do you just show up, insult the clerk and fill out a form?

Dog names aren't like internet usernames. They just have to be distinct enough from those of the rest of the pack for each dog to know that you're talking to him or her, and short enough to get their attention quickly. Impressing random douchenozzles on the internet isn't part of the equation.
