Illogical and inconvenient. You're on a bike to go places faster than the average pedestrian. Why get off at a crossing for any damn reason? It slows you down and just makes you an awkward target for an inattentive driver, more so than the average pedestrian. At least on a bike you can get the fuck out of the way slightly faster.
That mandate is like saying you should get out of your car and push it across an intersection. Fucking seriously.
