I'm tired of saying this but:
MeteorOID- floating in space
MeteOR- burning up in atmosphere
MeteorITE- Landed meteor

I saw something like this as well a year or two ago. For the first few seconds while I was staring in disbelief I thought it was a missile. I then quickly realized it was a meteorite.

pretty sure it was the one about 6 months ago that lit up the sky of most of the midwest, right around ...

I saw something like this driving home from my friend's house one day, I truly thought I was going crazy. Then I was informed (because I'm a dumbass) that it was probably a meteorite. Truly a sight to behold.
