Yes I agree with your comment saying that don't stand in to line of fire of the object and don't stand behind people that are working with machines. But a Band Saw would not be able to penetrate a person's skin or in fact actually shoot at someone since the blade is going vertical. Maybe you got mixed up about maybe a table saw, or belt/disk sander.

He's standing there with his hand on his waist and the other on the wooden plank like he's Mr. Cool Guy or some shit, with the wooden plank his friend (or dad?) is sanding right in line of his junk. In woodshop class(es) that is the number one safety rule, dont stand in the line of fire. When I was in woodshop class our instructor was using the BAND SAW and he said that it's possible for the saw in the machine to shoot out the side and PENETRATE through someone because its spinning at such high rpms in the machine.
TL;DR dont be a dumbass around machines that can serious injure you or kill you.
