in my grandmothers day it would have worked, back then women carried around REAL irons in their purses (as in a small but very heavy metal thing you would set by the fire to use to iron clothes), also till the day she died she used to carry razor sharp knives in her slippers, no sheath or anything, no idea how she kept from shredding her feet to ribbons.
