We cannot see the guy on the floor, he could have been continuing to do something threatening, prompting the defender with the pipe to continue to fear for the life and safety of he and his fellow employees. Something threatening, such as staunch the bleeding, pick up a tooth on the ground, or whatever. Punk should have stayed on his own side of the counter, he'd have fewer bruises and contusions.
